First Week in Cali!

It’s so good to hear everyone is doing good. My companion works very hard. He’s like the best missionary in Cali. No joke. He has like 50 or 60 baptisms, something like that. I’m learning a lot from him. He’s a really good teacher and really knows how to listen to the people. He’s awesome.

My house is not so bad. My companion says that it's not the worst but not the best. Haha. Oh and his name is Elder Rojas from Peru. It's really hard to study in the mornings because in our house there are 3 stories. We are on the second and there's people in the first and third. In a section of the place there's no ceiling for all the floors so you can hear everything from everyone that lives there. The people downstairs at 8 in the morning start blaring their salsa music all morning. I mean super loud. It's so hard to concentrate. Haha. Oh and Vallenatos, que mas...

Everyone is super nice. Like everyone. I love it. I talk with everyone and they all love us. The people are awesome. Oh and the other day we got attacked by a horse.

Making it to Cali!

Hey family,

Just made it to Cali, Colombia!!!!! It’s so nice and I’m super excited to be here and to start getting to work. I find out my area and companion tomorrow. I don’t have much time to write, I’m just letting you guys know I made it safe and I’m ready to get to work and start bringing people to Christ!!!! :) My P-days are Mondays, so I’ll write to you guys then. I love you guys. Remember that Heavenly Father loves every single one of you and knows you guys personally. He has plans for every single one of you, you just have to put your trust in him and center your lives around him and the blessing will come pouring in. You'll feel pure joy in your lives. I know this for a fact and I hope this week every single one of you try to become a little bit closer to Christ and our Heavenly Father by praying always and reading the scriptures. I love you guys and I’m doing great. I’ve never been happier in my life! I hope everyone is doing great!!!! :) I love you guys!!!!!!

The CCM & More

With the other missionaries at the MTC in Bogota

Wow, this has been an awesome experience, honestly. So I’m gonna start out with everything like details and then end with the spiritual stuff. It is so weird writing in English. It sucks because I still don’t feel like I can write in Spanish and now I’m having a hard time with English. This sentence has taken me like 5 mins. because I keep spanglishing it. Haha. Well my companion is awesome. We are such good friends. His name is Elder Leiva. We are like the clowns of the CCM. We are always laughing and joking around and we never don’t have a smile on our faces. I have seriously never laughed so much in my life or had so much fun in my life.

Flight to CCM

So far I’ve had the best time. There’s so much I want to tell you guys, but I just don’t have enough time. I will tell you the really cool things that have happened. At the airport I had my first miracle. I got a weird feeling that I should go to this spot and right when I did this old lady had fallen on the moving stair thingy and these people were trying to get her up but they could not. It was getting close to the top so I dropped my bags and the other elder I was with was like, “what are you doing?” Haha. I ran up the stairs and I was able to pick her up right before we got to the top and sit her down.  Everyone else was like how did you do that and I was like, I have no idea. Haha. The lady was so thankful. So that was super awesome.
On the flight to Colombia, there were 14 of us; 4 elders & 10 sisters. They are most definitely beautiful daughters of God. Haha. But oddly enough I got along better with the elders. They are super cool and we all get along so well. They’re awesome, I love them. But it’s sad because they’re transferring me because I’m only staying for two weeks. I’m gonna miss them. But I meet my companion later today. He’s from Peru so we will see how that goes. Haha. Everyone is so nice here and it’s so awesome to be here in the CCM. It’s the best feeling in the world and I can’t wait to get to work.

There’s this one elder that is super cool, like we are seriously like brothers. It’s so weird. But sadly, I’m leaving that group and going with the Latinos. Also my teacher told me I have a Colombian acento. Haha, yeah right. Must be the power of the Lord. J  Well I’m super excited. I can’t wait to get to Cali. I think I have said that like 100 times now, but seriously, I’m super excited. So we did not go to bed till 3 in the morning talking. We could not sleep because we were so excited. Everybody loves me because I speak Spanish. They’re like “Elder Gomez, Come here. Help me.” Haha. When they announced I was being transferred everybody booed. Haha. And the food is amazing with freshly squeezed fruit. Ahh. Amazing. The CCM is filled with sisters. There was like 10 sisters already here, on top of our ten sisters from our group. And in total of guys, there are 7 of us. Haha. But all the Latinos come today. Well I have to go now. I love you guys. Talk to you next week!!!!!!!!

Setting Apart as Missionary

I got set apart as a missionary! I'm super excited. As I was set apart I felt like when you drop a rock in the water, it makes ripples. I felt that through my body. From my head, when he said "by the authority I confirm a missionary", right at that moment, I felt this energy going down from my head through my body all the way down to my feet. It was amazing. I can't wait until I leave tomorrow morning. After that, we went out to eat some good Mexican food. I know I won't be able to sleep tonight. hehe.
